How is it made?

We take a treated wood core and EXTRUDE a polymer skin over
the wood – to make it essentially a low-maintenance wood fence. This fencing is
entirely different from PVC. The polymer is not PVC and does not get hard and
crack. You can put a chunk of this in a freezer for a month, take it out and
hit it with a hammer and the skin will not crack.
What kind of treatment do you use?

We use a type of borate treatment that protects the wood
core from insect infestation, dry rot, mushroom growth, etc. You’ll notice the
bottom of the post is sealed at the factory. This prevents any chemical from
leaching into the ground and keeps the post from wicking water up out of the
ground. The borate treatment does not contain arsenic and it is not corrosive
to zinc-covered fasteners.
What happens when you drive nails/screws into the posts and
rails. Does that affect the longevity of the fence since it might allow water
to get inside?

No. Obviously we have to allow for fasteners to be used.
This does not affect the longevity or warranty. The borate treatment actually
moves toward any water that gets in the post/rail providing protection against
rotting.
What is the warranty?
---------------------------
20-years, non-prorated. Warrantied against the skin cracking
or splitting. Against wood rot. Against discoloration, fading. Pretty much
anything short of horses chewing, cars running through it, trees falling on it.

What does EXTRUDE mean?
------------------------------------
Little plastic resin beads are melted to about 500 degress,
colorant and the UV package are added and the colored polymer is applied with a
special manufacturing dye to the wood. It then goes immediately into a water
bath where it is instantly cooled to 100 degrees or so. As it cools, the
polymer shrinks and pulls tight around the wood.
